Planning: Casting Calls

When filming my A2 Trailer 'The Return' we had to have friends to play the role of characters within the trailer. However, due to having codes and conventions within the trailer the characters had to match so they would fit the roles needed. For example we need a blonde girl to be our sexually active girl, so we found a girl Rosie Jacobs to play this role. Another example is of our final girl for this character we choose Alex Kelly Lambert for this role because she had brown hair and had an innocent look. When picking characters the group and I had to make a decision of characters who to pick, we looked at more possible characters however, the ones below fitted our description.

 

Planning: Location Reece

Before deciding the area to film in we had to visit places for possible ideas to film in. When filming in the forest we had to test out different forests and see which one would be more practical and appropriate for example lighting and health and safety. The places we filmed were a forest, house and a no through road, the areas had to fit the horror genre so they were suitable for our trailer. Because our trailer had to fit the slasher film it had to meet codes and conventions of a trailer for example isolated and dark settings.

Planning: Shooting Script

For the trailer we had to create shooting scripts so that we knew what day to film, how long the shoots would take, where the scene would be and what we where doing in each scene. This helps with the organisation of the day and so that we have a guide of what will take place and the characters are aware.

(Synopsis)

[Jason and Alex are on their way to the police station, to report what they have found out about Ruby, and to ask for help. They travel by Jason‘s car, which then crashes after Alex discovers Ruby is in the back of the car]

(Script)

[Henry and Dilan rush out of the house in a panic to get to the car]Alex: This doesn’t seem real
Jason: Let’s just get the hell out of here!
[Gets into the car]
[Henry gets his phone out]Alex: Ahh the police station is only 5 minutes away
Jason: Alright let’s go...
[Dilan starts to drive]
Jason: Ahh this is madness, it doesn’t feel real!
Alex: It’s all messed up!

[Roma pops up at the back of the car] Alex: What’s that? [Turns around at the same time]
[Henry screams]

-PARTY SCENE- (1) (Brief Synopsis)
The group of friends is having a party, as it is Frankie’s birthday. Alex and Jason then have a conversation about Amy and Chelsea. The group of friends then play spin the bottle, which then leads to Frankie being put on the spot as she is asked to tell the truth about what really happened to her sister the night she went missing.

[Laughing and joking with each other, drinking etc.]All: HAPPY BIRTHDAY FRANKIE!!
Frankie: Thank you guys
[Music plays in the background]
[Everyone dancing, drinking, talking]
[Rosie and Harry sexual scene]

Alex: Yo Jase, what do you think of Amy?
Jason: Nahh it’s all about Chelsea!

Frankie: I don’t want to talk about it
Jason: Come on Frankie, what actually happened?
Chelsea & Amy: Yeah come on Frankie!
Frankie: Fine!! [Shouts]Frankie: After mum adopted Ruby, I started to feel more and more distant from the family. Dad never used to pick me up anymore, mum always would take Ruby shopping with her, read her stories before bed, when before it used to be me. I hated her, I hated being second best to my mum and dad because of her, she ruined our family, and she ruined my family. I used to make it clear to her that she wasn’t welcome; that I didn’t like her, that she ruined my family took my place. She got sick of it, which is why she ran away, and never came back. No one ever knew why she would run away, or why she was that unhappy to run away at that age. Looks like in the end I was right, she was a weirdo! She came from a family who died just after she was born, and it turns out she was born with a curse.

Amy: Ooow so what’s the curse?
Alex: What happens if we say the curse?
Frankie: If we say the curse, she returns
Jay: I don’t believe this, there’s no such thing!
Jason: Yeah this is bullshit!
Alex: Aliee haha!
Frankie: You don’t believe me? Fine, let’s do it
the curse is, Arrives, dies, returns, arrives dies returns, arrives dies….Returns [Clock ticks] [10:58]

[All holds hands] [Giggles]
[ All repeats curse x3]

Planning: Call Sheet

These our the call sheets which we gave to the characters on the days of the shoots. The reason why we created these sheets was because the cast needed to know where and what time we would be filming the shoots. We also needed to inform the characters of nearest hospitals and police stations in case any emergency once on shoot. The Call sheets are need to also inform us the production team of who we need on the day of filming and the propps we shall bring out with us.

When filming we needed to take incount any risk that would harm or affect our characters. The reasons below were considered before we went out for shoots.



Planning: Special Effects Preparation

When we was filming the trailer because it was a horror genre we had to add blood and cuts to our characters faces but we needed to make them with special effects. We learnt techniques and had to apply them to our characters while filming. The characters had face blood on their faces for this we had to practice on ourselves before applying it to our characters.
